Removing and Replacing a General Electric Water Filter

GE SmartWater MWFP Water Filter

Inside at the Upper Right Rear Corner

Installation Instructions

  1. Locate Filter inside fridge and turn it 1/2 turn counterclockwise.
  2. Pull the old filter straight down and discard (the water will shut off automatically).
  3. Push the new filter gently up and in until it stops.
  4. Turn the filter clockwise until it stops.
  5. Flush 1 - 2 Gallons of Water to Purge Out Air From System.
  6. That's how easy it is to replace the MWFP water filter.
  7. Reset your 'change filter' light (if your fridge has one).

 

GE SmartWater MSWF (Slim) Water Filter

Installation Instructions

  1. Locate Filter inside fridge and turn it 1/2 turn counterclockwise.
  2. Pull the old filter straight down and discard (the water will shut off automatically).
  3. Push the new filter gently up and in until it stops.
  4. Turn the filter clockwise until it stops.
  5. Flush 1 - 2 Gallons of Water to Purge Out Air From System.

Installation Instructions

  1. Locate Filter inside fridge at the ceiling.
  2. Unlatch the plastic filter cover, and let it swing down to see the filter.
  3. Twist the old filter a quarter-turn counterclockwise and discard (the water will shut off automatically).
  4. Push the new filter in until it stops and Twist the filter a quarter-turn clockwise.
  5. Swing the plastic filter cover up until it snaps closed.
  6. Flush 1 - 2 Gallons of Water to Purge Out Air From System.
  7. That's how easy it is to replace the GSWF water filter.
  8. Reset your 'change filter' light (if your fridge has one).

 

GE SmartWater RPWF - RPWFE Water Filter

2 Different Locations

Installation Instructions

  1. Remove old cartridge by gently lifting the filter away from housing until first release, and then lift again to remove.
  2. Align top of filter with cartridge holder and push until cartridge is fully seated.
  3. While continuing to ensure cartridge is fully seated in the holder, gently rotate the filter (inward for Bottom Freezer Models and downward for Side by Side Models) until it can no longer rotate.
  4. Flush 1 - 2 Gallons of Water to Purge Out Air From System.
  5. That's how easy it is to replace the RPWF - RPWFE water filter.
  6. Reset your 'change filter' light (if your fridge has one).
